- Due
- 12:00 noon, Wednesday, October 28

Choose from the following readings. The book is more fun; the
Web-based readings are more concise.
- EITHER Steve Krug. Rocket
Surgery Made Easy: The Do-It-Yourself Guide to Finding and Fixing
Usability Problems. New Riders, 2010. [Optional textbook;
available at Penrose library. You should be able to read it within 3

- OR selections from Usability.gov:
- Submitting your work
- Please post your response as a blog entry on CLEo.
- Collaboration
- Each
student should turn in their own answers to the
questions below. You may discuss the assigned readings with anyone you
wish, but you should clearly acknowledge the source of any insights
that come from outside your own reading of the text(s).
- Evaluation
- I will evaluate this assignment on the scale presented in the syllabus.
Journal questions
- Which source did you choose to read? How far did you get?
[metacognition]
- Explain usability testing as if to your aunt or uncle (who is not a software developer,
psychologist, or designer). Write one paragraph. [translation]
- What do you think will be the most difficult part of planning a usability test?
[prioritization]
- What do you see as the most important thing to remember to think
about or do during the test
session? [prioritization]
- What is the most important thing to focus on when reporting usability test results?
[prioritization]
